How to Play Sports Select Game Lotteries in Western Canada?

How to play Sports Select lottery in Canada

Sports Select is a wonderful sports betting game played like lottery games brought forward by Western Canada Lottery Corporation. There are various sports game tickets you can buy at any Lottery retailer near you and wager on. The cost of tickets varies according to the game you choose.

The games are Pro Over Line Under, Pools, Props and Point Spread games.  Each has a different set of games and different wagers.

  • In Pro Over Line Under you can bet on Football, Baseball or Soccer and the ticket costs range between $2- $100. In this game selection, it’s not who wins or loses – it’s the total number of points that counts. Predict whether the total score of the game will be over or under the line. If all your picks are correct, you win!
  • The point spread games are also the same as Pro Over Line Under games and the wager is also the same. Your team doesn’t have to win, to win! Predict whether the Favourite will cover the “spread”, or if the Underdog will prevent them from doing so.
  • The Pools offer College Football and Professional Baseball and you can wager $5 on a single play. For just $5, you can compete against other sports fans in the West. Predict the outcome of every game on the POOLS Card; get the most correct to win or share the prize pool for that Card.
  • Props offers Baseball, Football and Golf and Hockey games and you can wager from $2 to $100. It’s like a game within the game! Two players go head-to-head in a specific challenge; which one will come out on top is what you have to prop.  If you predict all your picks correctly, you win.

Pro Over Line and Under Games

Pro Over lIne and Under games lottery Canada

In this game, you have to predict whether the total score of the game will be over or under the ‘Line’. Your picks can be from more than one sport and you win if all your picks are correct.

  • Mark the number of games you want to predict – a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10.
  • Mark the game numbers you are wagering on. For example, to select Game 5, mark Box 5; to select Game 25, mark Box 20 and Box 5 on the same board.
  • Make your predictions – either Over (O) or Under (U).
  • Wager from $2 to $100, as shown on the Selection Slip.
  • Give the completed slip and your wager to the Retailer before the start of the earliest game you selected. Check your ticket before leaving the store to make sure it’s what you selected.

If all of your picks are correct, you win! The payout is your wager times the OVER/UNDER odds of each selected game so if you wagered $5 for four games, and the odds were 1.70, 1.90, 1.80 and 1.70, you would win x 1.70 x 1.90 x 1.80 x 1.70 = $49.42.

In this game, you have to predict whether the Favourite will win by more points than the published spread, or if the Underdog will prevent them from doing so. All your picks must be from the same sport.

  • Mark the number of games you want to predict – two to 12. All Selections must be from the same sport.
  • Mark the game numbers you are wagering on. For example, to select Game 5, mark Box 5; to select Game 25, mark Box 20 and Box 5 on the same board.
  • Mark your predictions – either a Visitor Win (V) or Home Win (H).
  • Wager from $2 to $100, as shown on the Selection Slip.

Give the completed slip with your wager to the Retailer before the start of the earliest game you selected. Check your ticket before leaving the store to make sure it’s what you selected.

Pools Games

Pool Games Canada

You can wager $5 to play and compete against other sports fans in the West! Predict the outcome of every game on the Pools card – get the most correct to win or share the prize pool. Each card is for a separate sport.

  • Mark the Card Number you want to play – one digit for each vertical line.
  • Mark your Play Type, which determines the cost of your ticket. You can “box” up to four games, to select both Visitor Win (V) and Home Win (H) for those games.
  • Make your predictions. You must predict every game on the POOLS Card.
  • Give the completed slip and your wager to the Retailer before the POOLS Card closing date. Check your ticket before leaving the store to make sure it’s what you selected.

If you choose the most correct in your pool, you win! The prize pool for a Card will be shared by all Selections matching the highest number of correct predictions. For example, if 12 games are on a Card, and no player correctly predicted all 12, the prize pool is shared by all Selections matching 11. If nobody correctly predicted either 12 or 11, the prize pool goes to all Selections matching 10 – and so on. There are no subsidiary prizes.

The total number of winners and the prize pool value for a POOLS Card will be printed on the next Card for that sport, on all tickets purchased for that next Card’s pool, on the POOLS Game List page and the POOLS Results page.

  • Mark the number of picks you want to play – three to six.

  • Mark your predictions – Visitor Win (V), Tie (T) or Home Win (H). You can select a maximum of four ties.
  • Wager from $2 to $100, as shown on the Selection Slip.

Give the completed slip with your wager to the Retailer before the start of the earliest game you selected. Check your ticket before leaving the store to make sure it’s what you selected.

If all your picks are correct, you win! The payout is your wager multiplied by the PROPS odds for each of your picks like if you wagered $2 on three match-ups, and the odds are 2.15, 2.35 and 3.60, you would win: $2 x 2.15 x 2.35 x 3.60 = $36.38.

All match-ups offered on PROPS are based on single-day contests, except golf, which is based on multi-day tournament play.  A golf tournament is a series of 18-hole rounds played over several days.
