When are the Daily Grand Lottery draws held?

Lotto Winner

Draws are held every Monday and Thursday. Daily Grand tickets are sold up to 10:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) on draw nights.

Daily Grand draws are made with a computerized draw system that uses a random number generator (RNG). The draws are secure and as unpredictable as draws made by a ball-drop. Regardless of the draw method, all lottery draws are audited both internally and externally. There are a number of checks and balances that are overseen by third-party experts. These include on-site auditors for draws and third-party certification experts who verify the equipment used. RNG machines are kept inside a safe in a controlled room. Draw machines have no external ports or drives that would allow new software to be introduced. Draw machines are designed to signal any modification to any component of the system that has an influence on the outcome. Daily Grand winning tickets purchased in Ontario can be redeemed only in Ontario.

A winning set of numbers for a Daily Grand draw entitles a winner to a prize in only one of the above prize categories. Prizes must be claimed within one year following the draw date.

How to claim the prize

First and foremost you need to sign your winning ticket. Then take your signed ticket to the retailer for prize verification on a lottery terminal if you have won

Also you will see a winning message on the Customer Display Screen and hear a winning message play from the lottery terminal.

For Lotto tickets, your winning prize amount will be printed (or ‘branded’) on the front, left-hand side of your original ticket.

If the retailer can pay your prize, he or she will tear through the bar code of your paid-out ticket, and return the validated ticket to you along with the corresponding Customer Receipt.

If a retailer is unable to validate your ticket because it is damaged you must mail it to the Prize Centre to determine if the ticket has won a prize.

  • Your retailer will pay your prize amount in cash. Every retailer can pay up to (and including) $50. Retailers have the option to pay up to $999.90 (as long as they have the cash available).
  • For the top prize, instead of an annuity payment, you may choose a single lump sum total of $7 million. For the second prize of $25,000 a year for life, the winner may choose a single lump sum total of $500,000.
  • The annuity prizes on Daily Grand are intended as true “for life” prizes, lasting for the entire life of the winner.
  • There is no set maximum on the length of the payments. The annuity option won’t be available to multiple winners. Instead, the winning selections equally share the cash prize, $7 million for the top prize category and $500,000 for the second prize category. For example, if there are two winning selections in the top category, each will be entitled to $3.5 million. If there are two winning selections in the second category, each will be entitled to $250,000.
  • You also have to pay tax if you take the $1000 per day. If you take the lump sum you only pay tax on the interest you earn.
  • Claimants will have 60 days from the time they present their prize claim to decide whether to choose the annuity or single payment option. We encourage those claimants to seek independent financial advice to help make that decision. Daily Grand winners have one year from the draw date in which to present their ticket for claim.
